I may be biased, but as a children’s librarian, I love children’s books about the library. They’re wonderful and magical books about a wonderful and magical place. Your kids will love the library more and more each time they read a new book about it!

This rhyming story is so fun! Miss Bingo, the flamingo librarian, leads the little animals in storytime.There’s also a reference to Miss Muffet, which is the perfect excuse to introduce the Little Miss Muffet nursery rhyme.

Taking place in Chicago during the year 1946. Langston is feeling lonely in the big city after moving from the south. Finding the local library may just help Langston feel as though he’s not quite as alone as he thought.
Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library by Chris Grabenstein
This may be the most obvious choice for a chapter book about the library, but, in case you haven’t come across this series yet, I highly recommend it! It makes the library Fun, FUn, FUN!
Library of Souls: The Third Novel of Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
This is the third book in the Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children book, and it’s definitely a series that needs to be read in order. But, once you’ve read the first two, this is such a unique take on libraries and adventure.
How to Disappear Completely and Never Be Found by Sara Nickerson
This book. If you have kids who love creepy, scary books, I highly recommend this one. Mr. Librarian is the narrator of this story about a girl searching for the truth about her dad who passed away.
The Librarian of Auschwitz by Antonio Iturbe and translated by Lilit Thwaites
Dita is a fourteen-year-old girl who risked her life to be the caretaker for the few books in Auschwitz.
