An action-packed historical fiction book about Gretchen and her role in World War II: Gretchen becomes conflicted when a Jewish reporter contradicts everything she’s learned from her Uncle Dolf (aka Adolph Hitler). Gretchen has to figure out who she believes and what she’s willing to stand up for.

Silver in the Blood by Jessica Day George
Jessica Day George is one of my very favorite authors and has written many middle grade books. Silver in the Blood, however, is definitely YA. It seems like a YA book with definite magical realism qualities and includes the Dracula family. Dacia and Lou face family secrets that will change their lives forever.
The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale
The Goose Girl is one of my all time favorite books and a must-read. Anidora is a princess who can talk to birds, and it’s that quirkiness that gets her sent off to marry a prince in a faraway land. Things don’t quite go as planned though. It’s based on the fairytale of the same name and is simply a beloved story.
American Royals by Katherine McGee
If American had become a monarchy after the Revolutionary War, what would modern day USA look like? Find out in American Royals. A modern day take on American royalty.

Hollis is chosen to be queen, but is that what she actually wants? This fantasy story is the first in a duology.
